Pasalubong From Iloilo

Nyl brought some Illonggo’s delicacies last Sunday which he bought in Iloilo during his five days vacation there.

Pinasugbo.  This is one of my favorite.  My grandparents used to bring this caramelized sliced banana sprinkled with sesame seeds when they used to travel to Iloilo.  Because of it's crunchy, chewy and sweet taste I almost ate the whole pack of it and until this very day I'm still craving for it.

Biscocho.  At first I thought it taste like the toasted bread that we usually buy here in the city but I was wrong, this one taste better.  We paired it with coffee which made it more tasteful.

Piaya. I used to call this one “piya-piya” which makes my friends laugh because it sounds funny.   It is a flat circular unleavened bread with creamy muscovado as its filling.  Today, they have different flavors in the market, the one that Nyl's brought was ube flavor.
Butterscotch.   This one is new to my taste.  It's like a banana cake which we usually ate here yet this one has a small slice of mango. Hehehe!!!

To sum things up, Iloilo delicacy are one of the best delicacy I ever tasted.

Pork Afritada or Adobo???

I have to admit that there are only few dishes that I know how to cook.  To be exact, I only knew less that ten viand.

Gosh!

Anyway, so tonight I texted Nyl asking him what dish I could make with a few slices of pork meat and  few pieces of carrots and potatoes.  He suggested I should try pork afritada.

~nose bleeding~ hehehe! just kidding.

I informed him that I don't know how to do it and that I don't have all the ingredients needed especially the tomato sauce in which I remembered was one of the ingredients since this is a tomato-based stew dish, he told me that it was okay.  So he then texted me the recipes and the procedures in making this viand.  But I wasn't able to follow the entire procedure yet it taste good (tapping my shoulder for a dish well done).

So these are the ingredients and procedure I prepared and did.  If you know the exact name of this dish , please free to leave a message meanwhile let's just call it "Adofritada".  : )

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 piece bell pepper, seeded and slice
- 1 piece onion, sliced
- 4 cloves of  garlic, peeled and smashed
- 3 pieces of potatoes, diced
- 1 piece medium size carrots, diced
- soy sauce
- vinegar
- a cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- salt

Sorry, I can't give the exact measurement of the soy sauce, salt and vinegar I added since I just based it on how it taste.

PROCEDURE:
-  In a small size saucepan over a medium heat,  I saute the garlic in oil until golden brown.  I then added the
onion until its color become lighter then I then added the bell pepper (hehehe!!! Nyls text was late the bell pepper was supposed to be added with the potatoes).
- I added the meat and wait until it turned light brown then I added the soy sauce, vinegar, water, carrots and potatoes.
- I then cover the sauce pan and simmer it until the carrots and potatoes were cooked.  I then added a small amount of salt to add more flavor.
-Then take a picture.  :) Hehehe!Just kiddng, turn-off the stove and serve.

My finished product.
My brother and his fiancee said it tasted good...YES!  Another tap on my shoulder.
Tonight I learned not only how to cook this dish but also I learned that nothing is impossible we just need to try doing something about it.

Dinner With Friends

Last Tuesday my friends and I had dinner at Savory Classic in Centrio  Mall Ayala.  Well, that was my first time to dine there so I was a little excited to taste their foods.

I used to thought that their meals were expensive but I was wrong, Savory Classic had this new menu where in they offer affordable meals.

Well, I ordered E-meal 5 which cost P99.00 only.  The meals was good for one person that has a piece of savory chicken, a cup of rice, a glass of iced tea and a serve of buttered chopsuey.

The chicken and the chopsuey really taste good.  I just don't like the taste of their tea and also their pandan fiesta salad (I don't like the taste of tapioca), which my friend ordered.

Anyway, if I have to rate Classic Savory...

Place:   very nice
Service Crew:   very accommodating
Savory Chicken & chopsuey:    one of the best I ever tasted

Next time, I'll try their noodles in which I heard it taste great.

Stop, Watch and Comment.

My brother's fiancee has this ring that got stuck to her right left finger that cause it to swell.  Well, she did try everything she knows in getting it off but it didn't work so we went to her friend in Cogon (a local marketplace in our city) who knows how to deal with this kind of problem.

People that would passed by our area would stop and check what was happening and would comment on how to remove it.  Some even helped by lending their tools .

Though it took more than an hour to remove the ring from her finger, we had a great time there waiting.  Why? I have the chance to observe how great the Filipino are... they are ready to help others even in a simple way that they could.

BFB - Big Flat BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!heheheh

Though my Saturday didn't start well, just imagine dealing with a number of salesman who forgot to bring their receipts (which they should have return last week) and others who claim for refund on their meal (which they don't deserve because they didn't work last January 2) really gives me a headache the whole day.  This is the reason that I was having a second thought at first if I'll go out with the rest of the backroom girls or not ,but I realized I deserved a break for awhile.

Anyway, the group decided to eat at the BIG FLAT BREAD at Rosario Arcade Limketkai.  I heard good things about their pizza from my younger sister, so I was a little excited to have a taste of it.

At our office..
Inside the jeepney :)
missy bonbon...just passing by hehehe

EAT and RUN.....
We ordered the Godfather and the Big Pacific Catch.  The Godfather taste okay but I can't appreciate the Pacific Catch, maybe because the taste was new to me.  Nah... honestly, I can't describe its taste.   (I told my sister about it and she told me we should have order the Four Season, I can't remember if the name was Four Season or Four Flavors hehehe!).  Anyway, we have fun time taking pictures that night and for a while I can say I was stress free.
