Applying for a Student Permit

Being able to drive is one of the things I wrote on my bucket list.  But before I can do so, I need to have a driver's license.  But the question is, how can I get one?

Well, first I need to learn how to drive.  If you are planning to get a driver's license you need to go through the basic which is getting a student permit first.

So here in Cagayan de Oro City the licensing center is located at Bulua. Before going there, make sure you have these things

*PSA/ Philippine Statistics Authority Copy of your Birth Certificate
For Married :  PSA copy of you marriage certificate
*Medical Certificate from authorized medical clinic
*Application form  for Driver's License

So I started processing my student permit at around 9:19AM by getting a medical certificate which cost me Php400.00.  You don't have to go far since there are already accredited clinics near the LTO Office.

After securing a medical certificate, I then went to the LTO licensing office and presented my documents at the information desk. After checking my documents, I then proceed to window 2 and submitted my documents which was evaluated by the officer in charge .  I then waited for my name to be called at window 3 wherein my my pictures and signature where taken.  After that procedure, I waited again  for my name to be called at the cashier.

For Student Permit you have to pay Php317.63 wherein the breakdown of payment are as follows
Application Fee           100.00
Student Permit Fee      150.00
Comp Fee                      67.63

After paying at the cashier, you then have to wait for the releasing of you student permit at window 3.  By the way, the student permit is valid for 1 year.  You can apply for a Non- professional license after a month and one day.  For Professional, you have to wait for 6 months after the issuing of you student permit.

All in all, it took me almost 3 hours to complete the whole process of acquiring a student permit.

Onion Tea for Sore Throat

I've heard that onion is best cure when you have cough or colds.   All you have to do before going to sleep is to cut a small piece, place it under your feet and then wear a sock.

But little do we know that onion is also good for sore throat.   Yes! you've read it right.   I've tested it days ago which made me decide to write about it.

To be honest,  I did tried over the counter medicine to ease or lessen the pain but it didn't help.   So I tried searching for home remedies for sore throat and luckily I was able to came across onion tea.

Because of its natural antibioic and disenfectant properties, onion is one of the recommended home remedies for sore throat.

Procedure in making an onion tea.
*Wash the onion.
* Cut the onion into halves.
* Place it in a kettle with a cup of water.
*Let it boil.

Toolbit: Cagayan de Oro City Suppliers

According to Wikipedia, a tool bit is a non-rotary cutting tool used in metal lathes, shapers, and planers.  Most engineering students are looking for it, if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, why did I decided to write something about it?  Well,  I've experienced the difficulty of looking for it here in our city.  In fact,  most of the salesman informed me that there are also a number of students that are looking for it.

Where to buy a toolbit?

Well,  there are stores in Osmeña Street that are selling toolbit such as Goldtown and Orosolid.  But if you are looking for a wide variety  of toolbit I would suggest Weld Industrial Sales Depot located at JR Borja Ext.  Gusa Cagayan de Oro City.

Paying bills through GCASH

Paying bills is one of the most hassle thing I always have to do as a working mom.    Imagine the time I have to spend just by going to their office,  line up and pay.

Good thing  that GCASH was introduced in the market which made it easier for me to deal with these things.

So what is GCASH?

GCASH App is one of the fastest way to pay bills, buy prepaid loads, send and receive cash anytime,  anywhere.  It transform your mobile phone into a  virtual wallet.

How to pay your bills through GCASH?

First,  you need to have two things - a GCASH account and a fund in your account.

The app can be downloaded  through playstore and cash in can be made in various ways but for me I always do my cash-in through 7/11 store.
Reminder:  Always keep your receipts
Once you have log-in to your account,  you can then proceed to your payment transaction by selecting the pay bill options.

Upper Left Picture:  GCASH Dashboard;
  Lower Left Picture: Under Pay bills option;
Right Picture: Few of the Companies that accept GCASH Payment

After selecting your biller, all you need to do is to provide the data required such as account name,  account no and amount to be paid.

When your payment has been done or confirmed a SMS or a E-mail shall be sent to your registered number and E-mail address. Well, there is a charge for every  transaction but it is just a small amount.

You don't have to be worry if your payment has not been successful since GCASH will automatically add-back the corresponding amount to your account and they will notify you.

Cafe sa Bukid

Have you ever heard about a cafe in the mountain? Well, pictures and videos about a certain two-storey bamboo cafe have been circulating the net and most people are curious about the so called "Cafe sa Bukid".  Luckily,  Nyl and I were given a chance to check the place when we were on our way to Davao City.  The famous cafe is located at Kibangay, Lantapan Bukidnon -fronting Xavier de Kibangay High School.

The first  thing that captured my attention was the small strawberry  plantation  beside the cafe.  I was  really excited to check if they were already ripe but unfortunately I only saw one ripe strawberry.

There is also a store on the opposite side wherein you could buy some root crops and some vegetables.

Strawberry Garden beside the Cafe.
Foot wears are not allowed inside the cafe, so we have to leave them on the provided rack .  Upon entering, there is a counter on the left where  local products such as jam, honey and bamboo straw are being sold.

On the right side is a bamboo staircase that leads to the second floor.

The cold winds and breathtaking view is what we really enjoy and miss about the place.  For a short period of time we were able to relax from our busy city life.

A cup of hot sikwate
By the way,  the cafe is open from 7 in the morning til 7 in the evening, Monday to Sunday. And offers delicious meals and drinks to guest.

Airbnb : A Useful App for Traveling

AIRBNB was introduced to me by Nyl last year when I was looking for a place to stay  for our company's engineer.  It was very useful during that time since most of the nearby hotels were fully booked due to a convention.

So what is AIRBNB?

AIRBNB is an online marketplace where in you allow people to rent your place or a spare room during a period of time.  People can also host an activity through Airbnb, allowing tourist to experience their hobbies or skills.

How can you make a booking?

Through Airbnb App which can be downloaded on play store or book through their site.
But you have to register first before you could proceed on your bookings.
Once the registration process has been completed, you can then start searching  for a place to stay by typing the location on the textbox.

Check their calendars for the availability of the place or contact the host online.
If you have already made a choice  and the host have already confirmed the availabilty of the place, you can then book the space and process your payments.

Most host will give you other  instructions after the confirmation of the booking such as where they left the key or other house rules.

The good thing  about Airbnb is that most host have cheaper rate compare to hotels.  Also, there are space which allows you to cook your meal instead of eating outside or have your food delivered.
