Outreach Program at St. Joseph Golden Home Foundation Incorporated

This year our company decided to conduct an outreach program at the St.  Joseph Golden Home Foundation Incorporated, a home of the aged which is located at Clementa Fernandez St Cagayan de Oro City.   This institution is a non-profit charitable foundation that was organized last September 5, 2003 and has been the home for indigent, abandoned and unattached Older Filipino who is in need of attention and care.

Event Day

The said outreach program was in partnership with Ritemed wherein they provided medicines and doctor for the elderly.

Nanay Cheng and Abby

 During the event we were told to pair up and spend time with one of the elderly.  There we met Lola Francesca Villamil or Nanay Cheng. 

Nanay Cheng is already 98 years old.  According to her, she was from Dumaguete City and was the youngest in her family.  She used to work in an organization under the Department of Agriculture.  Unlike the rest, Nanay Cheng has this little bag on her side where some of her things were placed.

While looking at the rest ,my attention was caught by Tatay Dario Zamora.  He was the man who laugh easily in the group.  But his laugh was so genuine that I loved listening to it.  

My officemate Cathy and Maam Yen had the chance to spend time with him.  Though he had difficulty in speaking he was able to informed Cathy that he longed to be reunited with his family in Quezon City.  

Nanay Cheng won't let go of her gift though it was a little bit heavy.

For just a few hours there, we were able to serve, share and care for them.  Those precious hours that we spent with them were well paid off by the smile on their faces.

A Message of Gratitude

I can't find the right words to express my deepest gratitude

 to everyone who have helped my fellow Filipino who were affected by the typhoon Yolanda.

Though I was once a victim of the typhoon Sendong, 

I cannot say that I understand and know what they are going through right now since 

our situations are different from each other.

All I know is that they need help, and I thank the Lord God Almighty 

that during this time, when the survivors almost lost hope, God send you to them.

To those local and foreign individuals, groups and countries

 who have provided help in terms of funds, goods and services.

 For those who are praying for their safety and fast recovery.
